In 1947, Jaime Pinto de Moura founded Famo, with the construction of metal furniture making factory for offices and hospitals.

A large part of Famo's production was intended to supply goods for public authorities and services in the post-war era. In 1951, on August 20th, the brand FAMO – Fábrica de Móveis Metálicos was registered.

Customer base was expanded to include banks, insurance companies and industries. In 1960, the Simplex range was created and different types of chairs were developed.

Expands the manufacturing area to a useful area of 20,000 m2. In 1974, has designed decorative home furniture.

In 1988, it signed an agreement with one of the largest German office furniture manufacturers, KONIG+NEURATH, allowing it to ensure the manufacturing rights of its main furniture ranges - King Beta (1988), King Gama (1992), Screen Panels Inside (1992).

In 1997, celebrates 50 years and marks the launch of Mater range, the first range developed by an external designer - José Manuel Resende.

It develops and produces several lines, notably Ping Pong (2006), created by designer Jean Louis Iratzoki.

In 2017, acquires new facilities in Lordelo industrial zone.

In 2020, develops Lift System (height-adjustable desk).

In 2021, the Otto Line is launched, along with the development of several chair typologies.
